Quick Update and More pictures

Now that I have a minute to update this blog I am not sure what to say..... Let's see, Savannah is in first grade and for the most part loving it. I am definitely not as "cool" as I used to be according to Savannah. This makes me sad. I hate to think about the coming years. Thank goodness for Lucy, she still wants me to walk her to preschool and gets excited to see me when I pick her up. Savannah broke her arm in September but it didn't seem to hinder much. She is now happy to be jumping rope again, handstands, and cart wheels. She doesn't sit still for long. I love having Lucy around since Savannah is gone most of the day and she is getting really good at helping me around the house. One of her new talents is making her own PB&J's. I can't decide if my kids are just naturally independent or are they forced to be that way? Either way they don't seem to mind it much. Brock and I are fabulous and are loving life up here. It is the best time of year - I love jacket weather! I am slowly getting back into photography and a little ebay on the side. Mostly just loving being with Brock and the kids and running of course. Wish I had more. Maybe if I updated this a little more I might have something more exciting to write about. We will see....

Here are some pics from recent photo shoots. If you happen to need pictures taken let me know.

Summertime and the living is easy...

Well before summer gets too far away from me I thought I should at least post something... and especially now that my Favorite Sister is living in California I have more of a reason to blog.
Tonight I just want to say how much I love these nieces...
Photobucket

Why? Not just because they are super cousins, and not just because they love to swim almost as much as my sisters and I did when we were little nor is it because they are true fashionistas...
Photobucket

...but it is because they saved my little Lucy from drowning. I am so grateful for them and will always be. When I was three my sister Emily saved my from drowning and my mom gave her a nickel. I think Lucy is worth more than that. I hope they know how much I appreciate what they did. I love you girls.

It's about time.

The longer I put off this blog the harder it gets to post anything. I hate the idea of having to catch up on all that has happened in the past few months.. So, friends let's just let by-gones be by-gones and start from here.

Life is good. The girls make me happy and we are so excited for Spring. Today they had a picnic out on the patio in the little square of sun that we had for about 2 hours. It still feels like winter here, but we are soaking up any little bit of warmth that we can. We even ate dinner at the park in about 45 degree weather, but felt grateful that most the snow has melted. Ahhh, the joys of living by the mountains. Speaking of the mountains can I just say that I LOVE SKIING. I think in another life I will be a ski-bum. Ever sense I took up Telemark skiing I have a new love for the sport and I hate to say it but three times a year just isn't cutting it for me. But alas, a mother of two I am blessed to be and they are definitely more important than skiing. However, when Lucy has thrown her 15th fit for the day and Savannah is having another emotional break down I like to picture myself on the mountain soaking up the sun and snow just for a little bit and than I feel better and I love my kids even more.

Now that the snow is melting I think my ski dreams will subside and I can focus on another love - photography. The best part about photography is that I can do what I love with the people I love the most and I have to say the girls are pretty patient with me and my camera. Here a some easter photos... you can also check out my photography blog at flyingartichoke.blogspot.com.

Love Friday!

I am still in my pajamas at 10:00 - and it feels great. It's Friday and I am happy. Lucy was up until 2:00 last night wanting Brock - she is such a daddy's girl - and yelling that her legs hurt. I finally gave in and turned on Dora. She was quite and I got some much needed sleep.
Savannah didn't go to school today because I was too tired to get her up early enough to walk her down the hill to the bus stop with Lucy in tow, in 10 degree weather. I am a wimp.
With that out of the way I can now get to the point of this blog. I was sort of dreading this morning because my family is coming up for the weekend and my kids love, love, love their cousins and grandparents so they will constantly ask "when will they be here?" It drives me batty. And with Savannah home from school I thought I had dug my own grave. But as I was perusing cyberspace this morning for ideas I had a moment of inspiration. I made a little chore list for each of the girls and on top of the list I put 5 little smiley faces. I told the girls that if they were kind and good than they could keep their smiley faces, but if they hit, yelled, whined etc... than the smiley faces would be checked off and if they still had all their smiley faces by the time family was here they could play. If not they would stay home and help me unpack.
So far, so good and I am loving this morning. Let's hope it lasts more than an hour.

~ Jenny

P.S. This Parenting business isn't as easy as I once thought so please send any ideas my way.

I can't remember the site I got this idea, but for Savannah's V-day cards we are giving this picture with a sucker stuck in her hand. Just cut a little slit on the top and bottom of her hand and stick in the sucker. Wish I could remember where I find it.

"HOME"

We are officially in our new home/condo as of last night and I couldn't be happier. I love our new place and know that it was a huge blessing from above. Yesterday was a crazy day of moving, unpacking, and cleaning - I have to say I couldn't have done it without Brock - he cleaned our old house all by himself so that I could unpack (my favorite part). I think we finally, after 12 moves, have mastered the art. It went so smoothly ~ However now I lay here sick and exhausted. I started getting a cold last night - Yuck. Nice Timing!
Despite being sick I am happy and loving the change. Savannah and Lucy are in heaven as well, they are now officially bunkbed sleepers. My parents brought up an old bunkbed that I slept in when I was little - the girls couldn't be happier. Lucy has already fallen off once and I am sure there will be plenty more where that came from - let's just hope I don't have to make any midnight runs to the emergency room. If any of you ever feel like taking a trip to paradise (A.K.A. - Midway) you are more than welcome to visit our humble abode.
Pictures to come shortly - once I get the rest of the house in order.

P.S. sorry if I neglected anyone for the past week - it's been a little crazy.

Haiti

I wish that we had the means to go to Haiti and help. It is so sad to see so much suffering. I know most of you probably feel the same. Sometimes prayers are all we can offer. But, if you have the means to help with more here is a link you can follow to give monetary aid. http://www.healinghandsforhaiti.org.

Happy New Year!

It's not too late to wish everyone a Happy New Year I hope. What can I say, I am so excited for a New Year. Why? Well, it just so happens that I think this will be the best year of my life. Not sure why yet, but I can feel it in the air. Lots of change this year starting with some serious down sizing. Yep, that is right we are moving AGAIN! I am not sure how long we will be in our next place but I can promise you that it won't be our last move - so here we go again.... 12 moves down, ? more to go. Gosh I sure love moving.

But before I go on about this New Year let me just say that the Christmas break was fabulous. We had so much fun, playing, snowshoeing and skiing (thanks to my great in-laws) not to mention ice skating, sweet dance parties, game nights, and way too much food thanks to my parents. Savannah and Lucy were pretty good this year so they even got a little something for Christmas and I think they were pretty darn excited. See pictures below to experience the excitement for yourself. Yes, things are good around here and we are happy.

Why does Santa insist on giving the girls make-up? I think it's because he knows how happy it makes them.
