New Blog for a New adventure
My lazy days of blogging are officially over - I am turning over a new stone and so excited about it. However it won't be on this blog - are days will be logged and blogged on ournomadiclife.typepad.com. As the name entails we will be starting out on a nomadic adventure soon and I can't wait to tell you all about it. So if and when you find yourself with nothing to do and time on your hands head on over and check it out. Soon we hope to be adding travel tips, great places to eat, stay and visit and a serious amount of rambling. We hope you will visit soon!

Don't give up

"Many of lives failures are people who did not realize how close they were to success when they gave up."
-Thomas Edison
I loved this quote I got from a great movie called "One Week." I have been thinking a lot lately about how short life is - and what I want from life. This movie made me think about that a little bit more. I don't want to spend the rest of my life - however long that may be - wishing and hoping that I would have done this or that. I want to make each day count. I am sure that making it count is different for everyone and that everyone finds fulfillment in different ways. For me this includes being a kind person, loving unconditionally, serving others and finding joy in the moment without worrying about the past or trying to live for the future. It includes being in the moment and definitely a lot of skiing, some fishing, running, traveling, rolling down the river, and many fun days with the fam! So here is to living your dreams, not giving up, and truly enjoying each moment no matter how awful or fabulous it may seem.

It Works!
Today I want to remind the cyber world (is that a total old school term?) of one simple truth. Something I know to be true because I have tried and tested it over and over again. A truth that has changed my life. A truth that can change yours. That truth I speak of is this...
......the power of prayer.
I have known this truth for quite awhile now but something happened the other day that reminded me to pray more - and not to just pray for the usual things but to lay it ALL out on the table - all of it. He knows it anyway. He is just waiting for you to share it with him. He can't help unless you share it.
Prayer works. It works because our Father in Heaven loves us. He knows us. He cares about us.
Try it...
On another note...
My amazing sister-in-law Keri ran the Salt Lake Marathon yesterday. And SHE WON! She was the fasted woman. She ran it in 3:09. CRAZY! AMAZING. What an inspiration. She also has twins and a husband who is training for the Iron man in three weeks. They are SUPER STARS!

A Great Quote
"We have a choice. We can seek for the bad in others. Or we can make peace and work to extend to others the understanding, fairness, and forgiveness we so desperately desire for ourselves. It is our choice; for whatever we seek, that we will certainly find."

Lucy is my dress up queen. She is very particular about what she puts on each morning and it usually consists of sparkles, crowns, lots of jewelry and if she can sneak on some makeup before I catch her it completes her outfit and she is ready for the day. However today was the exception - she wanted to be her Dad. " I want to dress up and be the most handsomest like daddy." I couldn't complain - A morning without painting fingernails, rubbing makeup off the counter and not having to fasten a million necklaces sounded good to me. It took all of 5 minutes (only because I don't know how to tie a tie) and was ready to go. I have to admit she looked pretty cute.

Can't say I haven't thought about it?

Ok, so as you can tell I totally go in spurts with this blog thing. It's a definite love hate relationship. I guess the stars must be aligned right because for some odd reason I feel like I have a lot to write about - and this just seems like the right place to do it.
So here is the deal. My six year old has been a handful lately - love her deeply - but nonetheless she is pushing my buttons. Which makes my next comment seem some what contrary - I have been thinking of home schooling her. I know, I know, you think I am crazy, but I have my reasons and right now them seem pretty convincing.
Top three reason
1. More time with her - which I know is strange seeing as how I just admitted that we aren't exactly getting along. But you see my six year old needs - thrives - breathes attention. She needs it and a lot of it. So maybe with more attention - more love and affection our little battle of wills will melt away into laughter and learning.
2. More control over our lives and how we spend our time. I truly believe that you can the same amount of material in 3 hours as you can in 8 - it's all about teacher/student ration and time management. I think it's a little ridiculous that she spend 6 hours at school only to come home to another 1-2 hours of homework. I don't get it????
3. I feel like she is growing up way to fast and this way I will get to be a bigger part of that growing up.
There you have it - my top three reasons. Not sure which way to go - Brock says NO!! Savannah says NO!!! Do I even have a choice? Or is the freedom of home schooling and the daydreams of my children throwing their arms around me in utter joy as we learn through weekly field trips and perfectly planned lessons that inspire them to dream big and instill in them unparalleled confidence a figment of my imagination? Any ideas - from the three of you that actually still look at this blog - you know who you are?
(Note to readers - I love satire - it's just hard put into words)

Dear Boxelder bug,
Thank you! Thank you for letting my three year old carry you around in her sweaty little palm for hours today. Thank you for not flying away - instead you just climbed around on her dress and she thought it was the best thing since chocolate and you know how much she loves chocolate. Thank you for letting her put you in a cup of water without calling it quits - you are amazing and came out of that watery grave vibrant and ready play. Thank you because now she has a new best friend and you made her day - not to mention mine!
Sincerely,
A mother who needed you today
P.S. You are welcome anytime - just don't tell all your cousins - too many of you guys creep me out.
